ABOUT
Mission
The Delivering on Equity Collective’s (DOE) mission is to strengthen the everyday Commonwealth resident's voice and decision-making power through education and increased engagement in public budget processes. Composed of 29 grassroots organizations, The Collective advocates for equitable public resource investments by centering the expertise of BIPOC and working-class communities who best understand their needs.
Our Goal
Achieving structural change through deep community engagement, civic education, and training to increase representation in local and state-level leadership and budget process.
Led by the Massachusetts Budget & Policy Center (MassBudget), Massachusetts Communities Action Network (MCAN), and the Massachusetts Voter Table (MVT), the Collective came together to build an intersectional movement for justice in communities that have been neglected from the Commonwealth’s resources and economy. It combines its collective assets of coordinated and faith-based organizing, civic engagement, research, communications, and resource development.
LEADERSHIP
KENDRA PATTERSON
Director of Delivering on Equity
Kendra is an organizing and policy practitioner who has managed outreach for political and issue campaigns that have shaped democracy in every region of the United States, including Nevada, Missouri, Michigan, Georgia, and Massachusetts. She comes to us from our trusted partner, the Massachusetts Voter Table, where she led field coordination of the Democracy HUBS—45 grassroots organizations in BIPOC and low-income communities across the Commonwealth. Notable campaigns include passing the Fair Share Amendment, the Work and Family Mobility Act, and advocacy in the implementation of Boston’s participatory budgeting process.
Kendra is a dynamic leader who centers her work in joy, dignity, creativity, and collaboration. In this transition to the Delivering on Equity Collective, Kendra is enthusiastic about weaving grassroots organizing with budget advocacy to advance community understanding and engagement within public budget processes.
Why our work matters
Public budgets reflect community values and priorities. Massachusetts is an epicenter of progressive change and wealth, facing major challenges in ensuring fair public investments. Our budgets are vehicles for tax equity, and investments in our housing, public education, transportation, employment, childcare, and more.
how our communities are left behind
Systemic underfunding of BIPOC and working class communities
Lacking public education on how
tax dollars shape our society
Inconsistent community engagement beyond election cycles

We help change the course and support massachusetts residents in becoming active leaders in the growing economy
We believe that the people most affected by public policy decisions should be at the forefront of shaping them. By providing communities with the knowledge and tools to advocate for fair and equitable public investments, we help shift power, amplify underrepresented voices, and ensure that resources are allocated where they are needed most. Through civic education, advocacy training, and coalition-building, we equip BIPOC and working-class communities with the skills to engage in budget processes, influence decision-making, and drive meaningful change in public policy.
